Developing environmental management technologies for improved livelihoods, focusing on flooding and water resources including adaptation strategies

Research topic and aims:

This project will include data collection on the livelihood types, water resources, and potential short term and long term physical risk factors. All data will be collected with a focus of being used and analyzed in GIS. The first aim of this project is to estimate spatial flooding potential of standalone and joint extreme events. The second aim is to analyze the spatial effects on the water related livelihoods. The third aim will be to analyze the potential geographic strategies that are available to make a climate change adapted, resilient choice for the water resources serving these livelihoods.

 

Applicant qualifications:

MSc in Science, Engineering or related field.

Documented GIS knowledge with practical experience

Hydrological and, or, hydrological modelling experience is beneficial

English is the project working language. Ability to communicate daily work as well as scientific writing in English is a requirement.

Ability to work within a network with collaboration towards other projects in the GIT sub-program as well as in other research groups at both EMU and host university.
